India Gold Rates Advance Sharply on Consumer Demand; 22K/10g Gold Adds Rs.1950 in 2 Days; Check May 20 Prices
Gold prices in India recorded a rally for the last 2 days as the price of the 22k yellow metal surged by Rs 1,200 today to Rs 14,515 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the price of 24-carat precious metal is Rs 158,350 per 10 grams after the gain of Rs 1,310. For those looking for 18K gold prices in India, they will pay Rs 118,760 after prices rose by Rs 980 this morning.

Reason Behind the Rally in Gold Rate Today
Gold prices in the retail market were available at a higher cost as demand for the yellow metal surged due to the ongoing wedding season in India. Jewellers are also seeing increased buying interest after the recent correction in gold prices that led consumers to make fresh purchases.
Meanwhile, on the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX), both precious metals traded lower, impacted by the weakness in international spot prices. Spot gold prices slipped on Wednesday and hovered near $4,465 per ounce as rising US Treasury yields and a stronger US dollar outweighed optimism around a possible US-Iran peace agreement.
"Gold and silver are consolidating near $4,500 and $75, respectively, retreating from recent highs as Middle East tensions and persistent inflation weigh on sentiment. Rising oil prices have amplified rate hike expectations, keeping pressure on metals. President Trump's claim of a potential Iran peace deal offered limited relief, with markets remaining sceptical after he revealed a planned strike was called off following Gulf state appeals," said Prithviraj Kothari, Managing Director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd, President of India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd and Chairman at Jain International Trade Organisation.
"Stronger US inflation has further eroded Fed rate cut bets, with some traders now pricing in an additional hike. FOMC minutes and flash PMI data are the next key catalysts for direction," he further added.
