REC Limited and the National Test House (NTH) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen third-party quality testing of RDSS project materials. The agreement envisions NABL-accredited lab testing, shared workshops, and a robust quality framework to enhance reliability and safety in India’s power distribution infrastructure.
In a significant step towards strengthening quality and reliability in the power distribution sector, REC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Test House (NTH). The agreement was signed on Wednesday at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi.

The initiative aims to enhance quality testing and assurance mechanisms for materials used under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), a key government programme focused on improving power distribution infrastructure across the country. The MoU was signed by Prabhat Kumar Singh, Executive Director (RDSS), REC Limited, and Dr. Alok Kumar Srivastava, Director General, NTH. The signing ceremony was attended by Nidhi Khar, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs; Bharat Khera, Additional Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs; and Prince Dhawan, Executive Director (PMD), REC Limited.
Officials said the agreement is the result of sustained efforts by REC’s PMD – Quality Assurance Division, led by Yogendra Singh, GM and Head of Department. The partnership has been pursued as a strategic initiative to address quality gaps in procurement and installation of materials under RDSS.
Under the agreement, both organisations will collaborate on third-party quality testing of RDSS project materials through NTH’s NABL-accredited laboratories. They will also jointly organise technical workshops and training programmes, and work towards developing robust quality frameworks. The move is expected to significantly improve the reliability and safety standards of power distribution infrastructure across India, ensuring better service delivery to consumers.
