Sesa Goa, Tata Steel, Sterlite Ind, SAIL, who among the top gainers, were at 3.52 percent, 3.48 percent, 3.00 percent, 2.99 percent up respectively.

Bajaj Auto, Wipro, NTPC, Suzlon Energy, who among the top losers, were at 4.19 percent,1.67 percent, 1.10 percent, 0.91 percent down respectively.

Market trades with moderate gains

The market kept the uptrend Nifty was up 33.25 points and Sensex was up 121.04 points. Shares remained unchanged.

The Metal, auto, Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), realty, oil & gas, select healthcare and financial companies' shares supported the market.

At 2:40 pm, the 50-share NSE Nifty was at 6171.45 up 36.95 points and the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 113.55 points at 20622.64.

Market keeps the uptrend; Nifty above 6160 level
The market was trading at the moderate gains. Metal, auto, Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), realty, oil & gas, select healthcare and financial companies' shares supported the market.

At 12:40 pm, the 50-share NSE Nifty was at 6162.10 up 27.60 points and the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 27.60 points at 20606.85.

Markets resumes on +Ve note in New Year
Following the buying in financial, auto, metal and realty stocks, markets on Monday, Jan 3 started the New Year 2011 on a positive note.

At 9:42 am, the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 37 points to 6,171 and the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 134 points at 20,643.

Axis Bank, Tata Motors, M&M, Hero Honda, DLF, Reliance Communications, Sterlite, Sesa Goa, JSPL, SAIL, Tata Steel, SBI, Kotkak Mahindra Bank and PNB, who among the frontliners, were on buyers' radar.

However, Bharti Airtel, ACC and Infosys were marginally down.
