At 4:10 pm, the Sensex was 20184.74 down 116.36 points and the Nifty was 6048.25 down 31.55 points.

The top gainers were Sun Pharma up 2045 percent, Hindalco up 1.97 percent, NTPC up 1.25 percent and Bharathi Airtel up 1.20 percent.

Top losers were ACC down 5.18 percent, Ambuja Cements down 3.93 percent, Sterlite Ind down 3.90 percent and Bajaj Auto down 3.39 percent.

Sensex dips more than 100 points
The BSE Sensex dipped more than 100 points. Market was supported by Bharti, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, TCS, Infosys, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel along with power companies' shares.

At 2:30 pm, the Sensex was 20181.87 down 119.23 points and the Nifty was 6043.10 down 36.70 points.

Nifty continues with -Ve bias; hovers around 6050 pts

NSE Nifty continued trading with a negative bias as it hovered around 6050 mark.

At 12:06 pm, the Sensex was down 95.14 points or 0.47 percent at 20205.96, and the Nifty was down 26.00 points or 0.43 percent at 6053.80. About 1021 shares advanced, 1543 shares declined, and 643 shares remain unchanged.

HCL Tech, Sun Pharma, Power Grid Corp, Bharti Airtel and Rel Capita, who among the largecap space, were 1-1.5 percent up.

Sterlite Industries, Bajaj Auto, Ambuja Cements, Cipla, among the largecap space, were among the losing side with 2.3-4.5 percent down.

Nifty begins trading with 35pts gaining amid volatility

Citing a 67 points on Jan 5, NSE Nifty began trading on Thursday, Jan 6 with 35 points gaining though amid volatility.

At 9:57 am, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 20,378, up 77 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 24 points to 6,103.

The shares of companies like Tata Steel, Hindalco, Sesa Goa, SAIL, Bharti Airtel, L&T, Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Capital, Sun Pharma, HCL Tech and Infosys were on buyers' radar.

However, the shares of NTPC, Tata Power and ONGC were under selling pressure.
