Markets close amid volatility
Mumbai, Feb 16: The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 18,300.9, up just 27.10 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty settled at 5,481.70, up 0.7 points.

Jaiprakash Asso, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel and Wipro, who among the top gainers, were at 6.67 percent, 4.02 percent, 2.91 percent and 2.75 percent up respectively.

HDFC, IDFC, Reliance Comm and HCL Tech, who among the top losers, were at 3.05 percent, 2.39 percent, 1.92 percent and 1.92 percent down respectively.

Markets continue trading amid volatility; Nifty hits 5,400

At 2: 13 pm, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 18,320, up 46 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty went up 13 points to 5,494. European markets too were quite supportive with marginal gains in opening trade.

Heavyweights like Reliance Industries, TCS, SBI and ICICI Bank were leading the market during afternoon trading.

However, HDFC, M&M, Hindalco, Tata Motors, Reliance Communications, IDFC and Reliance Capital declined 1-3 percent.

Markets return to -Ve mode

At 12:30 pm, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell just 12 points to 18,262 and the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 5 points at 5,476.

The broader indices continued to outperform the benchmarks with marginal gains - about 750 shares advanced as against 504 shares declined on National Stock Exchange (NSE).

HDFC, M&M, Hindalco, Reliance Communications, Tata Motors and IDFC, who among the frontliners, fell 1-3.5 percent.

However, Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, L&T, Hero Honda, Ambuja Cements and Axis Bank gained 1-3.5 percent.

Nifty begins with +Ve note; Infy, TCS up

NSE Nifty began trading on Wednesday, Feb 16 on a quite note, though with a positive bias.

At 10:29 am, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 18,314, up 40 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 8 points to 5,489.

DLF, SAIL, Reliance Capital, Reliance Power, Reliance Infrastructure, IDFC, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, HDFC and ICICI Bank, who among frontliners, were under selling pressure.

However, L&T, Tata Power, BPCL, Infosys, TCS, ITC and HUL were supporting the markets.
