Food Inflation in no mood to come down, rises to 9.41%
India's sticky food inflation, as measured by Wholesale Price Index (WPI) again rose to 9.41% for the week ended September 24 on account of costlier cereals, pulses and vegetables, government data showed.

Food Inflation for the previous week stood at 9.13%.

 

The primary articles which contribute 20.12% in overall inflation stood at 10.84% during the week under review, compared to 11.43% in the previous week.

 

As per the government data, the rise in food inflation was on the back of rise in cereals (4.57%), rice (4.13%), pulses (7.54%) and vegetables (14.88%).

The price of onion, potato and fruits went up 10.58%, 9.34% and 11.72% respectively.

The price of milk stood same at 10.35%

The price of non-food articles also reduced to 10.77% as against 12.89% in the previous week.

The fuel inflation stood same at 14.69%.

"Inflation is definitely a matter of concern. We shall have to see how to bring it down to a moderate level. I am constantly in touch with the RBI," Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters.
