India's food inflation crosses 12% mark

India's food inflation crossed 12% mark, the highest in 9 months, the figure stood at 12.21% for the week ended October 22, the government data showed.
The food inflation which is calculated on the basis of wholesale price index (WPI) was at 11.43% in the previous week.
The fuel and power inflation dipped to 14.50% for the week ended October 22 against 14.70% a previous week.
The primary articles which occupy 20.12% weightage, rose to 12.08%.
Prices of vegetables soared to 28.89% and pulses became expensive to 11.65%.
The index of non-food articles moderated a bit to 6.43%.
While, the milk and egg, meat & fish rose to 11.73% and 13.36% respectively.
