Food Inflation dips to 6.6% for the week ended Nov 26
|
India's food inflation as calculated by wholesale price index (WPI) dipped to 6.6% for the week ended November 26 as against 8% reported a previous week. The sharp decline in food inflation was on account of moderation in the prices of cereals, rice and vegetables.
The primary articles inflation came down to 6.92% against 7.74% a previous week.
Wheat, vegetables, potato and onion became cheaper by 4.7%, 1.25%, 15.75% and 39.20%, respectively.
The non-food articles stood at 1.37%.
The fuel and power inflation remain unchanged at 15.53% during the week.
The recent dip in food inflation will give a kind of relief to the policy-makers who have been struggling hard to tame headline inflation.
The Reserve Bank of India which has raised key policy rates for 13 consecutive times may pause for another hike seeing the recent fall in food inflation figures.
As per the government data, the headline inflation stood at 9.73% for the month of October 2011.
