Rupee depreciates by 14 paise per dollar
The partially convertible Indian rupee depreciated by 14 paise to Rs 52.85 per dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Monday due to dollar demand from importers and banks.

US dollar remained strong against Euro and other currrencies which further affected the rupee sentiment.

 

The Indian rupee opened at 52.80 per dollar versus 52.71 on Friday.

 

The domestic currency lingered in a range between Rs 52.74 and Rs 52.85 per dollar during morning deals.

Weak opening in domestic equity market and concern over foreign funds outflows from stock market pressured more on rupee.

At 12.35 pm IST, rupee was seen trading at 52.73 per dollar.

Meanwhile, the BSE was seen trading at 15756.38 down by 92.42 points or 0.58%. The 50-share NSE was at 4722.60 down by 24.30 points or 0.51%.
