Rupee slips 8 paise to 49.52 per dollar

The partially convertible Indian rupee slipped 8 paise to Rs 49.52 per dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Wednesday amid fresh dollar selling by exporters.

The rupee sentiment was weighed by strong dollar and negative trend seen in domestic stock market. Dollar gained against euro and other major currencies.

The Indian rupee opened at 49.59 per dollar versus 49.45 yesterday. At 12.00 IST, rupee was seen trading at 49.53.

Meanwhile, the BSE was seen trading at 17140.88 down by 52.67 points or 0.31% and the 50-share NSE was at 5182.55 down by 16.70 points or 0.32%.
