Rupee slips by 12 paise per dollar

The partially convertible Indian rupee fell by 12 paise on Tuesday against dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange due to fresh demand for dollar from importers.

The domestic currency was lingering in a range of 49.28 per dollar and 49.42 per dollar during the morning deals.

The Indian rupee opened at 49.34 per dollar versus 49.19 yesterday. At 01.55 pm IST the rupee was seen trading at 49.31 down by 12 paise.

Meanwhile, the BSE was seen trading lower at 17819.14 up by 46.30 points or 0.26% and the 50-share NSE was at 17819.14 up by 46.30 points or 0.26%.
