Rupee gains on inflows

The partially convertible Indian rupee gained 8 paise on Wednesday against dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange due to demand for dollar from importers.

However, negative trend seen in domestic market constrained the further rise in rupee.

The Indian rupee opened at 49.25 per dollar versus 49.30 on Tuesday.

At 11.40 am IST rupee was seen trading at 49.23 up 8 paise.

Meanwhile, the BSE was seen trading lower at 18388.94 down by 39.67 points and the 50-share NSE was at 5587.15 down 20.00 points.
