Banks to operate full day on Saturday, April 7, 2012

All public sector banks will operate till 5 pm this Saturday, April 7, 2012 as directed by the Finance Ministry. This is on account of the fact that the week has three days holiday and two at a stretch.

However, transaction through bank branches cannot take place on these two days, officials added. There would not be much of activity on the corporate side either as they are also likely to observe holidays, the official added, reports PTI.

Banks were closed for public dealing on Monday. They will remain close on April 5 on account of Mahavir Jayanti and again on Good Friday day on April 6.

Not much of banking transactions are expected to take place this week, and the stock markets are also having a truncated week, due to these holidays. The forex markets are also expected to remain closed.
