 Markets open steady in line with Asian peers
Markets opened the day steady tracking Asian markets. The BSE Sensex was trading higher by 15 points at 17,428 points, while the Nifty was trading higher by 2 points at 5283 points.

Among the shares that gained ground today in early trade amongst the S&P CNX Nifty were Sun Pharma and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

 

Software shares including those of Infosys, TCS and HCL tech gained ground following a spectacular set of results posted by Cognizant. Other shares that rallied in eraly trade were Tata Motors and DLF.

 

Shares which had a soft opening in trade today included Hero Motorcorp, HDFC and Maruti Suzuki. Reliance Industries which surged more than 5% on Monday was trading steady, with a slightly negative bias.

Asian shares meanwhile were trading mixed. The Chinese Shanghai Composite and Singapore's Strait Times was marginally down, while the Japanese Nikkei and the Hong Kong Hang Sang was trading higher.

Markets are expected to trade in a range and would look for global cues, in the absence of any major global triggers.
