Markets open steady; Asian peers support
Markets opened the day steady in line with most Asian markets, which were trading with a positive bias, following robust manufacturing data from China.

The Sensex was trading higher by 15 points, while the Nifty gained 3 points at 9.20 am IST. Among the early gainers from the Nifty gainers were Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India, Maruti Suzuki and Jaiprakash Associates.

Index stocks that lost ground were Siemens, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Ultratech Cement and Lupin Laboratories.

Hindustan Copper shares slumped by 14%, after the government fixed a floor price of Rs 155 for share stake sale in the company, which was way below the closing price on Thursday.

Shares of NTPC were trading higher at Rs 166, after the Union Cabinet gave nod for a 9.5% stake sale in the company.

Software stocks were trading mixed with Infosys and TCS losing marginal ground, while Wipro was trading with small gains.

Heavyweight Reliance Industries was trading marginally higher by 0.50%.

Meanwhile, markets in Asia were trading mostly higher with the Chinese Shanghai Composite, Hong Kong's Hang Sang and Singapore's Strait Times all trading in the green.
