Tata Motors has reported a disappointing domestic sales figure for January 2013 with sales of just 57,780 vehicles as against 80,383 vehicles in the corresponding period of last year.
The drop came largely in the passenger cars segment and the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segment.
The company sold 8,722 M&HCV as against 18,339 vehicles sold in the corresponding period of last year. Passenger cars on the other hand saw a decline to 11,192 vehicles during the period as against 18,339 vehicles in January 2012.
