Service charge on AC resturants

The Finance Minister has increased the service tax on AC restaurants so be ready to shell out more while dining at AC restaurant. Last year air-conditioned restaurants who were serving alcoholic beverages were charged a service tax of 12.36% applicable on 30% of the bill - this year it's hiked.

Tax on grand homes

Thos who sell a hime will now have to pay a TDS of 1 per cent on property valued at Rs 50 lakh and above.

Motor Insurance

Motor insurance premium is set to become more expensive, with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) allowing up to 20 per cent increase in third party rates from April 1 in view of rising inflation and the history of claim settlement.

Train Fare

Passenger fare is set to rise from today as per changes announced in the Railway Budget 2013. Tatkal fee has been increased by 10 per cent on the basic fare for second class and 30 percent for all other AC classes.

Cancellation charges have been increased by Rs 10 to Rs 50 per ticket for confirmed tickets.
