The international crude oil price of Indian Basket as computed by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas went down to US$ 97.66/barrel (bbl) on 17.04.2013. This was lower than the price of US$ 97.90/bbl prevailing on the previous trading day of 16.04.2013.

The crude oil price in rupee terms also, declined to Rs 5267.78/bbl on 17.04.2013 as compared to Rs 5318.91/bbl on 16.04.2013. This was due to rupee appreciation. Rupee dollar exchange rate on 17.04.2013 at Rs 53.94/US$ against Rs 54.33/US$ on previous trading day of 16.04.2013.
