The rupee was last trading at 65.94 against the dollar, a gain of 6 paise over Thursday's close. Dealers say that the markets were calm ahead of the payrolls data to be declared in the US later today.
A higher then expected payrolls data may spook markets once again, as it keeps alive Fed hopes of a tapering towards the middle of this month.
Dealers say that new Governor Raghuram Rajan who took charge as the RBI Governor has managed to calm nerves in the forex markets. Check rupee rates here
