Among the top gainers in trade today was Infosys which rallied 1 per cent again, on the back of a sharp rally on Friday following its results.

IndusInd Bank was also trading higher ahead of its results to be declared later today. Other notable gainers were Ranbaxy Labs, Coal India and Bharti Airtel.

TCS, Wipro and HCL Tech joined Infosys higher as investors bought into tech stocks, following a good set of results by Infosys.

The Bank Nifty was trading with losses ahead of the inflation data due later today. The WPI data is due at around 11.00 am, while CPI data is due after market hours.

Reliance Industries was trading with marginal gains ahead of its results later. The stock was up 0.3 per cent. Notable losers from the Nifty were Hindalco, Ultratech Cement and Asian paints.

PSU banking stocks saw some buying interest with almost all of the stocks trading at higher levels. Gainers included Canara Bank, Union Bank, Punjab National Bank and Allahabad Bank.

Mid Cap stocks also saw some buying interest with notable gainers from the space being Tata Chemicals, Syndicate Bank and Crompton Greaves.

Meanwhile, markets in Asia were also trading flat with a slight positive bias.
