Markets end marginally lower; realty stocks rally
Markets ended the day sharpy lower after selling pressure across Asian markets affected sentiments.

The Sensex ended the day lower by 255 points, while the Nifty lost 80 points in a sell off in the last 30 minutes of trade. Among the top losers in trade today were heavyweights ICICI Bank and Larsen and Toubro. Other notable Nifty losers were Hindalco, Cipla and Bajaj Auto.

Among the Nifty gainers were realty major DLF which gained on fresh buying in realty stocks. Other notable gainers from the realty space were HDIL, DB Realty and Oberoi Realty.

Metal major Sesa Sterlite was among the top gainers in the Nifty today after hopes that economic reforms in China would boost metal demand.

Financial Technologies that rallied sharply on Tuesday lost marginal ground. Shares in Wyeth jumped 20 per cent after reports that the company is to consider merger with Pfizer.

Shriram EPC gained 5 per cent after reports that the company had bagged multiple orders. Rohit Ferro also had a good session following news that the it had started selling coal from Indnesia.

Mid cap stocks also did well with notable gainers being Crompton graves and JSW Energy. Stocks from the space that declined were Oriental Bank and Union Bank.

Meanwhile, markets in Asia ended the day in the red except the Chinese Shanghai Composite and the Hong Kong's Hang Sang which gained.
