
The globally leading company in business and technology services appointed CEO for its IT services business vertical for the first time in its history. Rajeev Mehta, formerly the Group Chief Executive Head of Industries and Markets business of the company will now head the position of a CEO. As part of the new job role, Mehta will be involved in services delivery as well as market-facing activities for the vertical.
R Chandrasekaran, Group Chief Executive-Technology and Operations, has been appointed as Executive Vice Chairman, yet another new position created in the company. With new responsibilities, Chandrasekaran would engage in fortifying association of the company with its clients, industry bodies, including Nasscom and CII, and the government. He will also work towards augmenting brand equity of the company by engaging in public relation activities in India.
Both Mehta and R Chandrasekaran will report to Francisco D'Souza, CEO of the company.
The former responsibilities of Chandrasekaran have been distributed among three Executive Vice Presidents of the company- Allen Shaheen, Debashis Chatterjee and Sumithra Gomatam, who would report their working to Rajeev Mehta. Allen would continue to be the head of its European horizontal practices and also manage companies acquired from C1 Group, a Germany-based IT services and consulting group. Also, Allen will head the assurance, enterprise application services and quality engineering teams of the company outside of India.
Debashis Chatterjee is appointed as the President-Technology Solutions and will oversee the functioning of each of the horizontal practices that form the part of IT services. Gomatam appointed as the President-Industry Solutions will be accountable for all of the delivery teams of communications & technology, insurance, information media and entertainment, and products and resources.
Some senior officials including Kalyan Mohan, Mahesh Venkateswaran, Mark Livingston, Santosh Thomas, Steven Schwartz, Srinivasan Veeraraghavachary and Gajen Kandiah have been appointed as Executive- Vice President.
With an aim to realize the position of a Tier-I company internationally the company is reported to effect the change. Further in one of the media reports, Cognizant is reported saying "In order to achieve that goal, we announced a series of organisational changes and associated promotions, intended to sharpen our focus on achieving our objectives across the five key areas".
