Spicejet announces base fare cut by 75% on air travel bookings
As part of the Super Summer Sale offer, flyers who book before shall be better off as they'll be eligible for or can avail higher discounts offered by the company. Also, through the offer, flyers shall be able to save substantially. As indicated on the airline's website for a flight between Delhi and Mumbai, the last minute price for the booking is Rs. 10,098 while through the given offer, customer can book the ticket at a meager price of Rs. 3,186. While a flight from Mumbai to Chandigarh, shall cost as low as Rs. 2,944 that otherwise in case of last-minute sale costs Rs. 9,856 to the air traveller.
The discount offerings are in line with the company's efforts to ramp up its expansion plans and also to meet its losses. Chief Operating Officer of the Spicejet Airline was quoted in one of the media report saying, "These are not fare wars as is commonly reported, as there are no losers. This is just basic customer segmentation and inventory and revenue management".
He also stated that " "These advance purchase offers are a win-win for airlines and customers as it leads to demand stimulation and airlines reduce wastage of seats that would otherwise fly empty."
