Sensex hits 24,000 points; conquers another historic peak
Exit poll euphoria failed to die down as the Sensex hit the 24,000 mark with the Sensex hitting a lifetime high of 24,045 points.
With today's rally the Sensex has now gained a staggering 1500 points on hopes that the NDA government under Narendra Modi would get a clear majority after most exit polls predicted the same.
1:55 PM: BHEL is up 10 per cent on frenzied buying.
1.30 PM: Sensex has partially given up gains and trades higher by 350 points.
12:50: IT stocks have finally participated in the rally with HCL Tech, Infosys and TCS up more than 2 per cent.
12:30 pm: Rupee has failed to make any substantial gains. Trades steady at 59.80
12:20 PM: PNB unlike Bank of Baroda has not rallied following muted Q4 results.
12:05 pm: Bank of Baroda is on fire as results beat expectations. Stock is up 7 per cent.
11:47 am: The Sensex has hit a historic peak of 24,000 points. Currently trading at 24,011 points.
11:15 am: After hitting a lifetime high of 23,996 points markets have given up some gains. Sensex is now up 294 points at 23,945 points.
10:58 Sensex hits a new record of 23,997 points.
10:30: Oil and gas stocks are on fire on diesel price hike. HPCL, ONGC, Gail are up 4-45 per cent.
10:00 am: PSU banking share are trading higher on hopes that NDA government will push through the reforms process.
9.30 am IST: The Bank Nifty has hit another record high propelled by names like State Bank, Yes Bank and Federal Bank.
