Speaking at his first press conference after being appointed as CEO and Managing Director of the company, Sikka said that it was exciting to work with Infoscians around the world and in India.

"It is a matter of great pride to lead Infosys. I am humbled and privileged," the newly appointed CEO and Managing Director of Infosys said.

Sikka also noted that the distinction between products and services is blurring rapidly.

He will take charge as CEO and MD of the company from from August 1, 2014. Sikka will be replacing S D Shibulal the current CEO and MD of the company.

Speaking earlier at the press conference, N Narayana Murthy said that he was extremely pleased to announce Vishal Sikka as the new CEO and Managing Director of the company.

Meanwhile, Infosys today also announced that N Narayana Murthy and S Gopalakrishnan would step down as Executive Chairman and Executive Vice Chairman of the company from June 14, 2014.
