Sensex, Nifty trade flat; Asian markets quiet in trade
Indices
Benchmark indices opened the day flat, as Asian markets were having a quiet session in trade. The Sensex was trading lower by 16 points, while the Nifty was lower by 4 points in trade.

Leading the set of losers from the Nifty was United Spirits, which was down three per cent, while other notable losers were BPCL, NMDC, ICICI Bank and Grasim.

 

Reliance Industries was trading marginally lower ahead of its 40th annual general body meeting to be held later today.

 

Bharti Airtel was up one per cent after the company launched 4G services on mobile in Kolkata. Steel Authority of India was trading higher after reports that the government could sell a five per cent stake in the company.

Notable winners from the Nifty were Kotak Mahindra Bank, ONGC, Sesa Sterlite and Tata Steel. Mid cap stocks were also having a good session in trade with Voltas rallying 2 per cent, while Godrej and Adani Enterprises were also up 2 per cent.

Infrastructure stocks continued to find buyers at lower levels with GMR Infra, Hindustan Construction and Sadhbhav among the gainers.

Software stocks were having a mixed session in trade with TCS and Wipro declining, while Infosys was trading marginally higher.

Realty stocks were virtually unchanged with most of the stocks trading flat. Meanwhile, most of the Asian markets were trading lower ahead of the FOMC meet. The Hong's Hang Sang and the Singapore's Strait Times were down, while the Japanese Nikkei was higher.
