WPI Inflation for the month of June fell to 5.43 per cent as food inflation remained steady through the month. The WPI Inflation for the month of May had stood at 6.01 per cent.
The primary articles index rose by 1.3 percent in comparison to the previous month. Fuel and power on the other hand so an inflation of a negligible 0.1 per cent.
The reading for April WPI inflation was revised to 5.55 per cent from the earlier level of 5.20 per cent earlier. Read difference between WPI Inflation and CPI Inflation here
Today's WPI inflation reading showed a drop to a 4-month low, which is welcome news. However, analysts say that inflation could rear its head once again, given the worries over a deficient monsoon. Hence, the Reserve Bank of India may not be in a hurry to cut rates anytime soon.
