Rupee begins week on a strong note; trades at 61.02 to the dollar

The rupee began the week on a strong note trading at 61.02 against the dollar as against its previous week's close of 61.18 to the dollar.

Strong equity sentiments also help push the currency higher. In fact, the rupee had hit a 3-week low against the dollar last week.

Meanwhile, the Sensex was trading higher by 123 points, while the Nifty was trading higher by 47 points in trade.
