Sensex, Nifty open higher; Tech stocks rally

     Sensex, Nifty open higher; Tech stocks rally
    The Sensex and the Nifty opened the day higher led by a rally in tech stocks. The Sensex was trading higher by 49 points, while the Nifty rallied 13 points in trade.

    Leading the gainers from the Nifty were IT stocks like Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Wipro. Other notable gainers from the Nifty were IndusInd Bank and Asian Paints.

    PSU banking stocks saw some buying interest with notable gainers being IDBI Bank, Bank of Baroda and Canara Bank.

    Nifty stocks that lost ground in trade were BPCL and United Spirits. DLF continued to be dragged lower after the High Court decision on the company's land acquisition in Haryana.

    Bhushan Steel was locked at the upper end of the circuit filter for a third straight day. Mid cap stocks saw some buying traction with Apollo Tyres and CESC among the gainers. However, select mid cap stocks like Petronet LNG and IFCI lost ground in trade.

    Meanwhile, markets in Asia were up as the Japanese Nikkei gained on a weaker Yen and the Shanghai Composite was also trading higher.
