The SenseX moved between gains and losses before ending the day higher by 65 points, while the Nifty closed the day higher by 20 points.

Apart from ITC other Nifty stocks that gained ground in trade were Cipla, which rallied 6 per cent and Maruti Suzuki.

Nifty stocks that did not have a good day in trade were Hindalco, Larsen and Toubro, Bhel and NTPC. Mid cap stocks that gained ground in trade were Aurobindo Pharma, IGL and Oracle Financial Services.

Bhushan Steel was once again locked at the upper end of the circuit filter. PSU banking stocks some good buying interest with notable winners being Oriental Bank of Commerce and Syndicate Bank.
