Rupee Opens Strong at 61.16 to the Dollar

The rupee opened the day at 61.16 to the dollar, as against its Tuesday's close of 61.31 to the dollar. Strong recovery in global stock markets ensured that the currency opened the day higher.

Dealers say that the currency would continue to show strength following a slew of reforms including those in coal initiated by the Government of India.

In the short term, however, they see the currency moving in a range of 60-61 levels, until fresh triggers. Check currency rates here
