Sensex Hits a New Record of 28,000 Points on Sustained FII Buying
The Sensex and the Nifty today hit record highs with the Sensex scaling past the 28,000 points as FIIs continued to buy into stocks.
The BSE Benchmark Index was last trading higher by 138 points at 27,999 points, after hitting a new record high of 28,003 points. The NSE Nifty also saw new records tumble with 8352 points being a new record high.
Mid cap stocks also saw huge buying interest with CESC, HPCL, Karnataka Bank and IFCI among the gainers.
Vindhya Telelinks surged a huge 16 per cent in early trade. Gujarat Pipavav also gained ground following a good set of quarterly numbers.
Banking stocks saw some traction with ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank and Bank of India among the gainers.
Realty stocks which have been climbing in the last few sessions continued their rally. Unitech, DLF and D B Realty were among the gainers.
Meanwhile, markets across Asia were trading marginally lower after some sharp gains seen in the last few trading sessions.
