Sensex Ends Lower on Profit Booking; DLF Rallies
The Sensex ended the day lower led by losses in frontline stocks and profit booking at lower levels. The Sensex ended the day lower by 47 points, while the Nifty closed the day with losses of 1 point.
Shares in United Bank surged after the company reported profits. Other PSU banks, however, saw some selling pressure with notable losers being Syndicate Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and Punjab National Bank.
The star in trade was DLF which ended the day higher by a huge 5 per cent. Other notable gainers were Dr Reddy's and Zee Entertainment.
Select Mid cap stocks also did not have a good day in trade with Reliance Capital, GMR Infra and Voltas among the losers.
Havells India ended the day marginally lower after reports of the demise of its Chairman.
Meanwhile, European markets continued to gain ground with the German DAX and the French CAC marginally higher.
