Sensex, Nifty Touch Another Record High; Metal Stocks Rally
The Sensex and the Nifty opened the day higher led by strong gains in metal stocks like Hindalco, NMDC and Sterlite Industries.
The Sensex was last trading higher by 58 points, while the Nifty gained 17 points in trade. Other Nifty stocks that gained apart from metal stocks were Tata Power and Zee Entertainment.
Mid cap stocks also saw some buying support with stocks like Jubilant and Oracle among the gainers. Shares in HPCL rallied after Citi raised the target price on the stock.
Banking stocks were also not having a good session in trade with stocks like Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda and Yes Bank among the losers.
Realty stocks saw some buying interest with stocks like Sobha and Unitech among the gainers.
Meanwhile, markets in Asia were trading higher led by the Straits Times and the Taiwan Weighted. However, the Shanghai Composite was trading marginally lower.
