Sensex, Nifty Trade Flat; Kotak Mahindra Jumps 6%

Benchmark indices were trading flat in early trade with the Sensex gaining 56 points, while the Nifty was up 21 points in early trade.

Leading the set of gainers from the Nifty was Kotak Mahindra which jumped 6 per cent in early trade. Other notable gainers were Tata Motors and Zee Entertainment.

Indices

Early Nifty losers in trade were Infosys, Tata Power and TCS. ING Vysya Bank also rallied following reports of its acquisition by Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Metal stocks were having a good trading session with Hindalco and Sesa Sterlite among the new gainers.

Mid cap stocks were also having a good session in early trade with notable gainers being Biocon, GMR Infra and Karnataka Bank.

Meanwhile, markets across Asia were trading higher as the US Dow Jones closed at another record high in trade.
