Sensex, Nifty Open Flat Ahead of Nov F&O Expiry
The Sensex and the Nifty opened the day flat, even as global cues were quiet. The Sensex was trading with gains of 11 points, while the Nifty was up 5 points in trade. Leading the set of gainers from the Nifty were stocks like Asian Paints, Grasim and Jindal Steel.
Early losers from the heavyweights included ITC, ONGC and Tata Motors.
Banking shares were trading flat after witnessing a super run in the last few trading sessions. Leading the set of losers were Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank and HDFC Bank.
South Indian Bank was trading marginally lower after reports that the bank has scrapped its proposed Rs 400 crore share sale
Mid cap shares were also trading lower in line with the broader markets. Among the losers in trade were Just Dial and Karnataka Bank.
Meanwhile, markets are expected to witness a volatile session in trade ahead of the F&O expiry for the November series.
Markets in Asia were trading marginally negative with the Hong Kong's Hang Sang and the Japanese Nikkei trading with losses.
