Will Govt Banks Remain Closed For Six Days From Jan 21 to Jan 26?
Bank unions have called a strike for four days from Jan 21 to Jan 24. Now, Jan 25 is a Sunday and Jan 26 is Republic day, so banks would remain closed for virtually six days.

On whatsapp messages are going around that ATMs would run dry and not be able to hold cash until Jan 26, 2015. There maybe long queues seen at ATMs, today and tomorrow, unless we hear from the bank unions.

There are mixed reports as to whether the strike has been called-off by bank unions or not. According to a report in the Tribune, The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) is yet to decide on observing strike from January 21 to 24 and an indefinite strike from March 19.

The UFBO comprises various associations like the AIBEA, AIBOC, NOBW and others. These associations had given a call for strike in the month of December to put pressure on the Indian Bank Association (IBA) for 25 per cent enhancement in their wages.
