BSE, NSE to Stay Open On Union Budget Day
The Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange would stay open on Budget day, Feb 28, 2015 despite the same falling on a Saturday.
There were worries that the exchanges would remain closed given the fact that the Union Budget 2015-16 will be delivered by Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley on a Saturday.
U K Sinha, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India had earlier hinted that stock exchanges in India may be allowed to stay open for trading.
Trading on the exchanges has always been conducted on budget day. When the budget was earlier delivered at 5.00 pm, trading was always held in the evening.
The decision would ensure that traders and investors are allowed to enter and exit positions on the same day instead of Monday, March 2.
