Sensex Crosses 28,000 Points; Sesa Sterlite Rallies
The Sensex crossed the 28,000 mark in trade today following robust global cues and strong overnight closings in the US.
Banking stocks were having a weakish session in trade with gainers being ITC, HDFC Bank, Wipro and Mahindra and Mahindra.
Shares in Just Dial rallied after a foreign brokerage firm picked a stake in the company. Infosys continued to see buying support after CLSA raised the target price on the stock to Rs 2800.
SBI was also trading form after the company received approval to divest stake in SBI Life Insurance. Mid cap stocks also saw some buying traction with notable gainers being Voltas and Jain Irrigation.
GVK power surged a huge 16 per cent after reports that the company will file for an IPO for its airport division soon.
Meanwhile, markets across Asia were trading with gains led by the Shanghai Composite and the Japanese Nikkei.
