Markets are closed on Thursday and Friday on account of Mahavir Jayanthi and Good Friday. It was another weakish session for the banking space with HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and State Bank of India declining in early trade.

The IT space continued to see declined with Infosys and TCS among the early losers. Kalpatru Power gains a huge 6 per cent after the company won an order for equipment.

HCL tech was down after the company warned that cross currency impact could see margins lower. This also dragged other IT stocks lower in trade.

Gammon Infra was down a huge 5 per cent after the company missed principal payments according to reports.

Mid cap stocks also saw some selling pressure with notable losers being Jain Irrigation and Voltas. Metal stocks were trading mixed with Hindalco down and Tata Steel trading with marginal gains.

Meanwhile, markets in Asia were trading marginally lower led by weak cues from the US and Europe.
