May WPI Inflation at -2.36 per cent
WPI Inflation data came in at -2.36 per cent for the month of May as against -2.65 per cent for the month of April.
It was 6.18 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year. Inflation rate has been in negative terrain since November.
What is the difference between WPI and CPI inflation?
The primary article inflation rose by 1.3 per cent and Food articles rose by 0.5 per cent due to higher price of gram, urad, masur and tea.
However, the price of beef & buffalo meat, poultry chicken and barley, ragi and maize, wheat, coffee, pork and fruits & vegetables declined.
The index for fuel and power rose by 3.0 percent from the previous month due to higher price of furnace oil , petrol, high speed diesel, bitumen, electricity.
Today's WPI reading comes along with a marginally higher tha expected CPI Inflation At 5.01 per cent.
