Sensex Ends Higher As Greece Worries Ease

Indices ended the day higher in trade as worries over a Greece exit from the Eurozone eased after Greece parliament approved measures as suggested by creditors.

The Sensex ended the day higher by 247 points, while the Nifty ended higher by 84 points. Leading the set of gainers from the indices were Axis Bank, which jumped a huge 4 per cent, while other notable gainers were Tata Power, HDFC and HDFC Bank.

Shares in Mastek jumped 6 per cent after the company's net profits beat expectations. Shares in select Nifty stocks like Vedanta, Mahindra and Mahindra and Wipro were among the losers in trade.

Kotak Mahindra Bank also saw huge buying interest and the stock was up 3.5 per cent in trade. Shares in South India Bank slumped after its asset quality worsened.

Mid cap shares also had a good day in trade with Tata Chemicals jumping 7 per cent in trade. Concor on the other hand was up 5 per cent and Max 3 per cent.

Shares in Adani Power rallied after the company won three projects in Chhattisgarh & Sipat.

Meanwhile, markets across the globe ended the day mostly higher led by the Japanese Nikkei and the Singapore's Strait Times.
