The government today extended the last day for filing tax returns to Aug 5. The earlier date for filing tax returns was July 31.
However, the last day falls on a Sunday and also due to the bank strike the dates have been extended.
What this means is that there would now be no penalty for filing until Aug 5, 2916.
"In view of today's bank strike and disturbance in J&K, the due date of IT return filing is being extended," Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia said in a tweet today.
As far as Jammmu and Kashmir is concerned the deadline has been even further to Aug 31, due to disturbance in the region there.
