Sensex Ends Lower On Special Diwali Trading Session
Markets ended the day higher, on trading for Samvat 2073 as select banking stocks gained.
Benchmark indices ended the day lower, on the first day of trading for Samvat 2073. A special one-hour trading session is conducted each year on Diwali day.
However, stocks like HDFC and HDFC Bank declined. Trading on this special day is considered as auspicious and there is general buying that is done.
Select midcap stocks ended the day higher with stocks like Century Textiles and Sun TV among the gainers.
Volumes were thin as is always the case on Muhurat Trading day, as there is normally very little or almost no participation from FIIs and domestic institutions. Markets would now be closed for trading on Monday and would open on Tuesday.
