State Bank Of India (SBI) on Thursday announced the launch of SBI Pay, the United Payment Interface (UPI) app.Customers of all banks who are part of the UPI can send and receive money from their smartphones with a virtual payment address acting as a unique identifier using SBI Pay.
Only the virtual payment address is needed to use the SBI Pay app. Additional features like merchant payments and enhanced transaction limits are expected to be added later.
The UPI or United Payment Interface allows a user to send or receive money from another account holder through his mobile number, and the sender or received does not need to share any private data like account number, IFSC code, branch or bank, etc.
UPI app will allow users to pay for transactions as low as Rs 50 and go all the way up to Rs 1 lakh.
