New Currency Notes of Rs. 200, Rs. 50 and Rs. 20 In Offing

No confirmation with regard to Rs. 200 currency notes is in place by the RBI.

After the recent demonetization wake which jilted the Indian economy immeasurably, RBI is now set to come with new currency notes in three denominations of Rs. 200, Rs.50 and Rs. 20. The apex body has confirmed the release of new bank notes in Rs. 20 and Rs. 50 denomination but no final or confirmed word has come in by the RBI in respect of Rs. 200.

However as per the report of a leading news daily, the currency of Rs. 200 has already been given orders for printing. And, purportedly on different media sites, several pictures of the likely new currency are making a flash.

"The Reserve Bank will shortly issue Rs 50 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, without inset letter in both the number panels, bearing signature of Dr Urjit R Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2016' printed on the reverse of the banknote" said RBI in respect of Rs. 50 notes.

Also, in the month of December last year, RBI said that the body shall unveil Rs. 20 notes shortly. The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 20 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, with inset letter 'L' in both the number panels, bearing signature of Dr Urjit R Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2016' printed on the reverse of the banknote," RBI said in a statement.
