The government backed airline, Air India, on Saturday announced discount of 50% for students, army personnel and senior citizens. The discount shall be available with effect from September 1. Further the discount shall be offered subject to availability of seats.

The tickets can be booked via website of Air India, the airlines booking offices or call centre. The criteria given for students booking air tickets under the offer is that they should be aged between 12 and 26 years and should be pursuing education in India. Also he or she must be enrolled in a full-time course of one year which is recognized or accredited by a central or state Board or University.

In respect of the armed force personnel, the traveller must be an active employee of the Indian Armed Forces or their family members. Also, traveller who is an Indian national and has attained the age of 60 years as on the date of travel shall also be offered the discount.

The air ticket under the discount offer has to be booked a week earlier from the date of travel. The discount is available on the basic fare for bookings in economy class for domestic route.
