Jaitley To Meet Industry And Exporters To Discuss GST Concerns
Jaitley is slated to meet industry representatives to discuss matter concerning GST and its impact on exports in the country
Nearly three months after the launch of the biggest taxation reform, Arun Jaitley who heads the GST Council will discuss matters concerning GST with industry representatives and exporters today.
It is expected that issues concerning input tax credit and refund of duties paid by exporters shall be brought to the fore. In an earlier stance, the body representative of exporters in India, Federation of Indian Export Oragnisations (FIEO) stated that the introduction of GST has resulted in some serious financial woes for the exporters. More so, many entities into exporting are considering winding up as huge amount of funds are blocked owing to GST implementation.
Suresh Prabhu, Commerce and Industry Minister tweeted, "We are working very closely with other ministries to address problems faced by exporters. Discussed with (Finance Minister) Arun Jaitley ji again for GST and exports."
Today representatives from CII, Ficci, FISM and FIEO will be meeting the Finance Ministry.
Reportedly, representatives like Ficci, CII, Federation of Indian Export Oragnisations (FIEO) and FISM are expected to be attending the meeting with the finance minister.
Exports for the month ending August has increased to double digits after dropping for three consecutive months. Nonetheless, GST collection based on the filing in the same month has dropped.
