Nifty Opens At Record High; ICICI Bank, RIL Lead

Benchmark indices hit a fresh record high led by solid gains in heavyweights Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank.

The Nifty was at a new record high of 10,239 points, while the Sensex too hit a new record of 32,676 points.

Shares in Reliance Industries gained 1 per cent, following a good set of quarterly numbers. The stock was last seen trading at Rs 886, up 1 per cent in trade. ICICI Bank too gained ground and was higher by 1.2 per cent. All the 19 sectors on the BSE were trading with gains.

Shares in Avenue Supermarts was up 2 per cent, after a good set of results.

The midcap and the small cap index too gained ground rising 0.5 per cent and 0.6 per cent respectively. Shares of HDFC and NTPC were among the few stocks that declined in trade today.
