The government for the disabled and elderly has initiated biometric verification for the aadhaar mobile number linkng
Time and again telecom companies across the board are reminding subscribers to go by the mandate of linking their mobile number with their Aadhaar ID. To this effect, government has again intervened to simplify the process.
The department of telecom data shows that 50 million mobile numbers have been linked to the Aadhaar IDs. For the re-verification of mobile numbers for which the customers are confronting difficulties, department has asked to come out some simpler solutions other than eKYC using Aadhaar such as one time password verification (OTP) verification. As per a leading daily, the deadline of February 6, 2018 has been given to telecom companies to complete the process

Again as a measure to keep customer's interest at the forefront, aged and disable people shall be able to complete the linking process of their mobile number with Aadhaar IDs at their doorsteps via biometric authentication. The order by DoT said, "Some mobile subscribers, due to factors such as age, disability, and chronic illness are not able to visit the TSPs' service points for biometric authentication. The TSPs should provide the facility for verification of residents at their doorstep," the order noted.
